About Us
Our Youth Development Programs are designed to be engaging, informative, practical and fun. All of our activities are provided to help Cadets develop the life-skills they’ll need in the future.
Our Instructors are a mix of former Defence Force Personnel and enthusiastic volunteers. There’s always an opportunity to help out if you’re over 18 and we’ve got a great collection of helpers from all walks of life.
The JDC is funded by its own efforts and financially supported by other not-for-profit organisations. It is not affiliated to or associated with any Australian Defence Force entity. Like any other incorporated association, the JDC continues to benefit from, and apply for, grants from a range of public and private grant providers.
Brett McCreadie - Chief Instructor
Brett is a former soldier with a passion for youth development. Delivering Cadet programs for the past 7 years he knows what it takes to build a great military experience for young people.
In his role as Chief Instructor of the JDC Brett brings a wealth of learning know-how, and his hands-on experience running not-for-profit businesses, coupled with his dedication to the veteran’s community, is a great combination of knowledge and experience for the delivery of our Youth Development Programs.
Brett’s work with young people is particularly impressive and includes many years of volunteering in youth organisations including Girl Guides Queensland, weekend sporting clubs, school P&C’s as well as other Cadet programs. With over 30 years of volunteering behind him Brett knows plenty about encouraging and supporting other community volunteers, especially former service personnel.
