About JDC
The Jimboomba & Districts Cadets is all about giving kids between the ages of 7 and 17 a great military experience, while teaching them the really important skills they will need later in life. Our volunteers have been delivering Cadet Training programs and activities since 2012 and most are former Australian Defence Force personnel.
Young people who have been in the JDC tend to be more confident, reliable, independent, considerate and purposeful. They develop leadership skills and the ability to work as part of a team and have the opportunity to earn worthwhile life-skills. As any one of our adults will tell you, it is watching the Cadets grow and develop, and knowing that you have helped them along the way, which is the most rewarding part of being in the JDC.
The JDC isn’t part of the Army. It wears a uniform and operates the same rank structure, but it’s a great Youth Development Program. Although some Cadets do eventually choose to pursue a career in the Defence Forces, most do not, and the JDC is not a military recruiting ground. It does, however, have a history of helping young individuals flourish as they prepare for all walks of life and encouraging an active involvement in the local community.
About the Program
Cadets learn all the basics about being a soldier. We teach them parade ground drill, fieldcraft skills and all the first-aid they can remember. Cadets learn about the Australian Defence Force, its customs and traditions, its values, and its unique and proud history. Cadets participate in weekly training one night a week from 1800 to 2030hrs, as well as weekend camps, exercises and excursions. Cadets march on Anzac Day and contribute to other significant events on Australia’s commemorative calendar.
Field Force Funsters
Two day Mini-Military Camp for kids!
** PROGRAM COMING SOON**
Every kid wants to be a soldier at some point when they’re growing up? Now they can ‘join the army for a weekend’ and do all the really fun stuff!
At Field Force Funsters Camps kids get to learn how to patrol like a real soldier in the field, as well as conduct section attacks against an enemy. They learn all the skills for camouflage and concealment techniques and bucket load of bushcraft soldiering skills. They get to sleep under army hutchies in the field as well as communicating with a radio just like a soldier.
And what kid doesn’t want to complete a mini-combat obstacle course using a JM SKAR V2 Assault Rifle Gel Ball Blaster?
This is just a few of the activity’s kids do on Field Force Funsters Camps – we keep them fully fuelled as well with plenty to eat and drink.
